Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician, developed the Montessori method of education over 100 years ago. Through her observations of children at work and play, Dr. Montessori recognized that humans experience distinctive developmental periods in their journey from birth to adulthood. Montessori knew that if children were placed in a learning environment specifically designed to meet their needs at a particular developmental period, learning would be effortless, joyful, and satisfying.

★★★★★ All 3 of my kids go to this school and I couldn't be more pleased. The teachers, faculty, and families are incredible, and a Montessori education is opening doors they would never have otherwise. My kids are so different from each other, so I never thought the same school would suit all 3 of them. I now see how Montessori schools accommodate all learning styles and personalities, and this one is fantastic. - Stephanie Taylor Warner
★★★★★ I just want to say THANK YOU for everything that you do, but more specifically for being so transparent and communicative with us. It means the world to me that I never have to guess about what is going on or where the school stands. Because of the open lines of communication I always know that you guys are doing everything to keep my babies safe. As a family who has had to be tested every week since coming back in January, I know that testing can be inconvenient, but I so appreciate you requiring it of us and all other families in order to what is best for students and staff. - Darci Parken
★★★★★ I want to preface by saying that I did a lot of research in order to select a pre-school for my daughters. I toured almost 10 different schools/daycares intown with different approaches to childhood education, and from my perspective Montessori Intown offers one of the best personalized education options in Atlanta, and the results speak for themselves.
1) My daughters absolutely love this place. My older daughter attended Montessori Intown for almost 4 years and now my 2 year old has started attending this school and she always looks forward to going to school.
2) If you don’t know about the Montessori methodology, it’s all about letting the child choose their own learning journey, which helps them build a strong foundation of independence, self confidence and a sense of accomplishment. I can go on and on about this, but let’s just say that my child at 20 months was potty trained and she would wake up in the middle of the night on her own to go potty without asking for help. Why? Because she trusted herself that she knew how to go potty and just did it! Another example is when we were getting ready to go on a trip, and while I was frantically packing, she (at 4 y/o) decided to go to the kitchen and pack her own snacks without me asking her to help me. I have so many examples like this where my daughter has just taken initiative on her own to do things for herself trusting her abilities.
3) My daughter who now goes to public school has developed a great sense of curiosity which has been nurtured by the wonderful teachers she has had at Montessori Intown. Why does this matter? Curiosity in kids is basically what fuels their motivation for learning! For example, we love traveling and Miss Clarissa helped her learn about the places we visited on the map! My daughter also loves rocks and I can’t tell you how many names of rocks she knows just from her teacher (thank you Miss Clarissa!) nurturing her interests. Now this curiosity has translated into wanting to learn how to read, do math and more. How awesome is that my daughter is motivated to learn more and more?
4) The environment that the school provides is a peaceful, respectful and kind community for kids (and parents) that will make your heart melt. Example, one times I said aloud ‘I hate rain’ and my daughter corrected me and said that hate is a very strong word and that I should use ‘I don’t like’ instead.
5) Augusta (Director), staff and teachers are truly invested in the children, and their learning journey. They embody Maria Montessori’s teachings which has taught me how to better support my child in her development and her individual interests.
Having been part of this school for the last 5 years, I can’t recommend this school enough as an option for strong consideration for you and your family. - Yesica Ford (parent)
★★★★★ Our 2 year-old joined Montessori Intown when he was 14 months-old and has been thriving ever since! He’s fully potty trained, talking up a storm, and is a huge help around the house and with others. This is a true community of dedicated parents and staff, and we’re so happy that we started him here when he did. - Nicole LeBlanc
★★★★★ My son started school here last month and we are in love! The teachers exude kindness and patience, intelligence and care. The environment is peaceful and sophisticated. I can already tell a great difference in my son's attitude toward learning, his interests and demeanor. Love this community! - Paige Arrington
★★★★★ Our two children have attended the school, and they both have gained confidence in their education and emotional self. With a staff that is nurturing and understanding, they provide an experience that the children will positively remember. The small classes allow the classmates to form a bond. It has been a positive experience for us parents too. - Clay Jamison
★★★★★ My son started attending Montessori In Town when he was 15 months old, and we immediately fell in love! He is 4.5 now and loves all of his teachers and classmates, as does his younger sister who just joined the toddler class. The teachers and staff are all very communicative and warm. We have had nothing but positive, loving experiences with everyone at this school and are so thankful. You can really tell they care deeply about each and every student. - Samantha deChamp Baldwin
★★★★★ Our family joined MIT in 2021 January in the heat of the pandemic. We were referred by friends who loved it. My daughter had a few challenges that we were trying to work through. We shared this with the staff who where more than willing to help our child and have gone above and beyond to help my little girl thrive. Everyone is hands on (academic and none academic alike) constantly offering support, and ensuring that my little girls foundation years are setting her up for success. Pure Montessori style teaching, the most diverse school we have come across in Atlanta. My husband and I joke it is a mini United Nations. - ijeabalum Nwandu (local guide)
★★★★★ Our neighbors attended MIT for years and always spoke so highly of it. When we were ready to send our daughter to school, we were so excited to hear that MIT had moved its campus closer to our house. We were nervous about her adjustment to being in school since she was a COVID baby, but the transition was simple and she loves it here! The staff is friendly and helpful, and it's obvious they care about our child and her growth. The administration is responsive and helpful and ready to address any of our needs. We could not be happier! Our daughter likes it so much we will be switching from half-day to full-day soon. - Jacques Duplantier
★★★★★ Such a great choice for our family over the past three years. MIT is quite well-run, with amazing teachers, high-quality facilities, and very positive parent network. I appreciate that the director is always looking for ways to improve and grow the school, which is not always the case at small private schools. They recently hired for a new position, Pedagogical Specialist, to work across the classrooms, which shows how they reinvest in the kids and in supporting teachers. - Andrew S.
★★★★★ [Your staff] have all had such a strong, positive impact on both our kids and us as parents! Your team and method has been such a wonderful fit for our kids, and we've seen both of them thrive all year. - L. Williams
